Gazprom Then and Now: The Company Has Grown to Dominate World Market in Only 25 Years

Gazprom celebrates its 25 year anniversary. On Friday, Vladimir Putin met with Alexey Miller, the head of the company. Vladimir Putin: "I want to note that over the past 25 years, tremendous work has been done to preserve and develop the company. Gazprom is now operating 151 fields. I doubt that any other company in the world has spread its network so widely — in the good sense of the word. Your company operates in 34 countries around the world, where it has a lot of partners and friends. I congratulate you and all the employees of Gazprom on achieving such results. I wish you all a happy anniversary". Indeed, according to the annual rating of Standard & Poor's, Gazprom is number one among global energy companies. 250 companies were evaluated on such financial indicators as assets, revenue, profit, and return on investment. Alexey Miller, the Head of Gazprom: "New gas production centers have been created in the Far East and Eastern Siberia, but most importantly, a new Yamal gas production center has been created from scratch in the Arctic. And now it is becoming an essential part of Gazprom's work. The company is consistently developing its gas transportation system. The length of Gazprom's main gas pipelines is more than 170,000 kilometers. It is the longest gas transportation system in the world." Gazprom is actively working on a social program to ensure that all parts of Russia have access to natural gas. Since 2005, more than 30,000 kilometers of gas pipelines have been built, and more than 4,000 Russian settlements now have access to natural gas.
